Re: Resubmitting a proposal to NIH Elsa Nadler 19 Jun 2006 18:53 EST

We are also working on a resubmission of a PA that was replaced. We are
using the current g.g package an including a cover letter explaining the
issue. The proposal is also clearly marked resubmission in the SF424
forms. [There is no generic SF424 in g.g.] The issue of the cover letter
vs. introduction, I do not know. We are going with the three page
introduction section that directly precedes the narrative in order to
respond to reviewer critiques. This cannot be done in one page. The
cover letter, on the other hand, can easily be one page and is the
attachment in the optional "cover letter file"; it gives the old PA and
explains that the original was replaced recently.
hope this helps...does anyone have anything to add?

How do you submit an application through G.G when the CFDA number pulls
up
the 'wrong' funding opportunity?

Is there a 'generic' SF424 form that can be used? The current
"CFDA-specific" form is for a newer release of (basically the same)
NIH/NIAMS PAR. The proposal to be submitted is a resubmission of a
proposal
originally submitted about 18 months ago; the proposal has been revised
to
respond to the concerns expressed in the initial peer review.

There is one element that's different between the current and previous
version of the PAR, and this raises another question. As the previous
version contained no PAR-specific limitations to the "Introductory
Letter"
that is to accompany a resubmitted proposal it seems reasonable that
the
'default' value applies: 3 pages. The current version states that the
letter
cannot exceed one page. If anyone has had experience in dealing with
this
dilemma I'd be grateful for advice concerning this question also.
