The IRB Manager, under the direction of the Sr. IRB Manager, is responsible for the daily oversight, administration, implementation, and management of policies and procedures related to the conduct of human research projects at Brown University. Duties and responsibilities include: * Evaluate incoming studies for prospective risk, confirm appropriate type of review, coordinate appropriate consultations as needed; * Attend IRB meetings, serve as key advisor on all matters pertaining to protocol review - take minutes - ensuring accuracy and providing feedback to investigators; * Provide consultation to investigators regarding federal and state regulations, and University policies and procedures governing the inclusion of human participants in research to facilitate review of their human research protocols and/or grant applications; * Develop educational tools and training modules for the Brown community; * Act as liaison with OHRP in regard to the University's Federalwide Assurance (FWA), interpretation of regulations, and IRB membership updates; and * Maintain protocol records and accompanying database. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Three to five years experience as an IRB coordinator, manager, or the equivalent * Working knowledge of 45CFR Part 46 and FDA regulations and possess an in-depth understanding of operational requirements pertaining to the management and implementation of protocol review processes * Demonstrated ability to write cogent, concise, and detailed documents - excellent oral and written communication skills required * Strong knowledge of contract and grant administration * Tact in dealing with investigators and sponsors * Compassion and sensitivity when dealing with participants as well as maintaining confidentiality.
