What you can also do to make sure the right browser opens is:
1. In the PureEdge viewer main page, click on the button at the very top
that looks like a gear on a post (fifth from the left).
2. In WWW Browser Configuration, if "try to locate browser
automatically" is selected, deselect it.
3. Use the "locate browser" button to find your Internet Explorer
program, the path will appear there.
4. Hit "save".

From then on the documents will open in IE instead of your default
browser, which might be something else (it is for me).

Like the Pure Edge files, I have found that the Grants.gov website likes
Internet Explorer and have had problems logging in using any other
browser.

To eliminate problems viewing files within Pure Edge, open IE and
minimize it while working with the file and you won't have a problem. If
you don't use Internet Explorer as your default browser, your computer
will try to open attached files with the default which will cause an
error message.

So much for web-based, platform independent technology.....
