Hi Deborah
Sounds fishy to me....
I haven't dealt with NCIIA but here is my general input:
First and foremost... is the individual that is the principal at your
Institution? If not, I would venture to say they are including your
Institution so that they look like they are eligible to apply and have a
home Institution... but it is not truthful or accurate... The individual
must be a student, faculty or staff of a NCIIA member institution... and IP
policies will come into play.
Secondly, if this was just well intentioed gone a bit astray and a link
canbe established, I would insist the awardee be the Institution rather
than an individual.
I would contact NCIIA immediately with concerns.

Good Monday morning.
Have any of you worked with the National Collegiate Inventors &
Innovators Alliance (NCIIA)?
I am dealing with a rather strange situation in that a private entity
(I believe non-profit but do not know for sure) is developing an
invention and submitted a grant proposal to NCIIA under the auspices of
our institution, i.e., the entity listed me as administrative contact
and themselves as the applicant. However, they neglected to provide a
proposal, budget, etc. to us for review.
Add to that, this entity paid membership fees to NCIIA on our behalf
because membership is required in order to apply for funding.
Well-intentioned over-enthusiasm or fishy?
