editable fields in pdfs Charlie Hathaway 07 Apr 2006 12:09 EST

[struggling to understand what I am talking about]

I think I now understand that an "editable field" in a pdf document is a place where anyone using only a PDF reader can change text, click buttons, etc. But since we have not come across any such fields in pdfs prepared for NIH eRA, I am wondering what types of documents were presenting with these fields...was it biosketches?

Is "editable fields" standard lingo? Given that I can go into most PDFs with full Adobe and "edit", wouldn't a better term, despite the Englische, be "fill-in-able" or "click-able"? Or does the word "field" denote a place set aside for user action?

thanks

Charlie
