Reports to: Associate Director
Basic Purpose & Scope This position provides proposal development
assistance for ISU faculty and staff grant writers, prepares text for
institutional proposals, conducts OSP routing reviews of proposals ready
for submission, conducts faculty workshops, and other pre-award grant
and contract activities.
Responsibilities Share the responsibility for the oversight of OSP
operations as well as assume full responsibility for those operations in
the absence of the Associate Director. (15%)
Work with faculty, staff and students individually and in groups,
through the range of proposal development activities. Review draft
narratives. (15%)
Conduct routing reviews of proposals. (15%)
Edit and review proposal project descriptions and related documents.
(15%)
Assist with development of OSP newsletter and conduct workshops for
faculty. (15%)
Along with the Associate Director, assist in the supervision of
proposal submission activities. (10%)
Conduct searches for appropriate funding sources. Assist in development
of proposals for institutional inter-disciplinary grants. Compose
abstracts of funded proposals for OSP database and for distribution to
ISU Board of Trustees, colleges, and departments. Assist Associate
Director to monitor and update Web site content. Provide assistance to
community grantseekers from area nonprofits. (15%)
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Skills Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal skills
used in individual and group settings and active listening skills.
Demonstrated writing skills in various styles. Ability to work both
independently and collaboratively with several simultaneous assignments,
organize tasks as appropriate, set priorities, meet deadlines, and work
without direct supervision.Microcomputer proficiency including
experience with word processing, desktop publishing, web editing,
spreadsheet and database applications. Ability to interpret agency and
federal regulations. Ability to interpret technical guidelines.
Required Experience 2 years research administration experience
(preferably in higher education)
Preferred Education: Master's Degree
