A-21 requires different levels of verification based upon the type of
payroll system that you have in place.

In a nutshell, it is only if you use Plan Confirmation that an annual
verification is acceptable. However, there are two other methods (After
the Fact Activity Records and Multiple Confirmation Records) that
require verification each academic term, but no less frequently than
every six months.

We use After the Fact Activity Records and verify twice per year for
our least active faculty/staff. Our most active faculty and staff use a
beginning of the month estimate and an end of the month verification
that are signed-off by the employee and their supervisor. The auditors
love it.

We currently do effort reporting 2x per year but we are moving to an
annual report. We are on plan confirmation.

I think I remember hearing at the NCURA Conference in Washington that
some universities do effort reports only once a year.  Could you all
let
me know who you are.  Our administration would like to look into this.
