POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Project Administrator (Position No. 1212)
The University of Denver has an opening for a Project Administrator in the Office of Sponsored Programs. This position provides support to faculty in finding and applying for external funding. The Project Administrator is responsible for submitting proposals, negotiating terms and conditions of grants/contracts, monitoring subawards, and administering grants and contracts according to federal regulations and University of Denver policies and procedures.
DUTIES:
Proposal Preparation:
• Assist Principal Investigator(PI) with guideline interpretation and communicate with sponsor regarding any questions on their guidelines.
• Work with PI to develop budget, assuring that all potential costs have been identified and justified.
• Prepare the cover page, budget, and representations and certifications forms. Obtain signatures on behalf of the University.
• Provide internal documents as requested by sponsors.
Award Negotiation and Acceptance
• Negotiate terms and conditions of grants, contracts and subcontracts with sponsors and subcontractors.
• Prepare agreements, obtaining departmental approvals, for institutional signature.
Grant and Contract Management.
• Assure that awards are properly coded and entered into appropriate databases.
• Produce routine reports.
• Work with grants accountants to assure that the award is in compliance with all federal, state, and internal policies.
• Close out accounts.
Team Participation
• Participates in training and other communication sessions with the university community.
• Maintains expertise and shares knowledge of specific funding agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, or closely related field. Three years experience in the administration of grants and/or contracts preferred. Experience in research administration within a university setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of federal regulations regarding compliance in human subjects protections, animal care and use, biosafety, scientific misconduct, conflicts of interest, research integrity, intellectual property desired. Familiarity with OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133 and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) desired. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Ability to work and participate effectively in a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including drafting reports and correspondence. Able to communicate with faculty, students, and other staff members. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of variables. Must be able to make decisi
ons independently and seek assistance when appropriate. Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks.
PAY RANGE / SCHEDULE: $37,989 - $49,428. Excellent benefits package.
