Description of Position
The Grant and Contract Administrator is responsible for managing the proposal review and approval process for a portfolio of University departments.  Review and approve grant applications and contract proposals, assessing for accuracy, completeness, presentation of the project, appropriate budgets, adherence to federal regulations, agency guidelines, University policies and procedures, and consistency with sound research management principles.  Assist with the coordination, negotiation, and establishment of contracts and subcontracts.  Provide specialized advanced assistance to principal investigators and department administrative staff in the preparation of responses to Requests for Applications, Program Announcements, Requests for Proposals, and other special funding mechanisms by analyzing, interpreting, and explaining their unique requirements.  Participate in pre-award training and educational outreach initiatives to faculty and department staff.

Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree with three years experience in grants and contracts administration or grants management in a central or department research administration.  Educational qualification may be waived upon consideration of superior background and experience in grants and contracts administration.  Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  Ability to understand and synthesize complex regulatory requirements matched with the superior communication skills needed to convey and interpret them to administrative and clients in the OHSU research community.  Advanced computer skills, including facility with the internet, Excel, Word, email, and database entry and information retrieval.
