Veterans Medical Research Foundation a non-profit organization is seeking a
Contracts and Grants Administrator for the Core office.
Educational Background Desired:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or two to
four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Personal Qualifications
Must be able to work well under pressure and in a deadline-driven
environment. Must be a team player. Incumbent will have the ability to
organize, prioritize and multitask effectively and work with minimum
supervision.
Experience and/or special skills
Proven ability to handle and work with detail and prepare/review a large
volume of paperwork rapidly and accurately.
Excellent typing and editing skills. Proofreading for accuracy is
essential.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. This includes tact,
diplomacy and flexibility at all levels of interaction.
Ability to communicate in a helpful and informative manner in person, via
e-mail and/or on the telephone, and work in a team-oriented environment.
Proficient in computing in MS Windows environment; to include capability in
Word, Excel and Access.
Statement of duties and responsibilities:
PRE-AWARD
Timely completion and submission of entire grant applications. Review of
grant applications for budgetary appropriateness, completeness and
conformity with VMRF and agency policies; resolve any discrepancies and
assure that VMRF internal compliances are met before proposal submission.
POST AWARD
Notify PI of grant application and progress report submission deadlines.
Ability to read and interpret accounting records to advise a PI on the
overall status of all funding sources including grants, industry sponsored
agreements, studies and other administrative accounts.
Analyze trends in expenditures (i.e. dramatic increase in expenditures in a
certain category, close to the project end date, etc.). Be able to
recommend and implement a course of action.
Reconcile and monitor funds on a monthly basis. Analyze awarded research
monies and prepare fiscal projections and reports to ensure proper
expenditures of grant and contract funds as required by funding agencies.
Research and recommend solutions to problems related to allocation,
expenditures and termination of funds.
Coordinate final fiscal, progress and invention reports to external agencies
for grant closeout.
