Re: RESEARCH ASSISTANTS/ASSOCIATES AS NON EXEMPT EMPLOYEES Cayuse Software 11 Aug 2005 16:09 EST

In previous positions as a Research Administrator/Departmental Manager, I
had problems with Research Assistants/Associates not realizing that they
actually worked for a corporation and were expected to adhere to HR
policies and procedures.  Many in the Research arena still can't remember
that they are no longer students and are considered employees.
I had one Post-Doc tell me that it was none of my business if she didn't
show up for the day or bother calling in.
Sad thing is - the Director of Research agreed!
