Research Services Administrator (proposal administrator)
Major/Essential duties:
Assist TEES researchers in submitting research proposals. Read through
funding information and determine the proposal submission requirements.
Provide guidance to the researcher in preparation of the budget.
Prepare proposal budgets using Excel software as directed by researcher,
according to federal, sponsor and TEES policies. Prepare various other
forms required for proposal submission including internal approval
forms. Position has overall responsibility for making sure that
proposal is submitted on time and meets TEES and sponsor's requirements.
Occasional duties:
Interact with other research administration offices on campus.
Education/training required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of Training/experience (8
years related experience with high school graduation or 4 years with an
associate's degree Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation
is preferred. Successful applicant will be expected to be motivated to
learn all aspects of research administration and to work to obtain CRA
designation.
Work experience & specific skills required:
Two years relevant professional experience. Experience in a professional
office dealing with deadlines. Good people skills required to interact
with faculty members and sponsors. Experience working in detail
orientated positions. Experience in sponsored research administration
especially pre-award preferred. Prior work experience and knowledge of
TEES/TAMUS would be helpful.
Comments:
TEES Research Services is the TEES pre-award office for sponsored
research. This office works with TEES researchers in preparing proposal
budgets and other forms as part of a proposal package submission seeking
research funding support from to various sponsors. This person will be
part of a highly motivated customer orientated team in a fast paced
professional office environment. Must work be able to work under
pressure of proposal deadlines. Attention to detail is necessary. Must
be able to multi-task. Must be able to professionally interact with
faculty, other campus professional staff and sponsors. Good verbal and
written communication skills are necessary. Good reading comprehension
skills are needed.
Pay Rate: commensurate with experience
