People Soft for Applications Robert Beattie 31 May 2005 11:27 EST

Interesting to read of so many people using People Soft Grants. How is
this working out with your faculty for them to prepare applications?
What are they doing for electronic submissions, such as NSF Fastlane?
Does it print out applications for those agencies that need paper
versions, such as NIH? How will it handle submissions to Grants.gov?

Do some of you prepare the applications in the Grants Office instead of
having the Faculty do them?

Thanks for the info.

Actually, I'm pretty satisfied with PS Grants for the most part. It is
one of five modules we consider part of the Grants Suite (Project,
Contracts, Billing and AR are the other 4). There have been more
problems with the other 4 modules than with Grants. We've been live
almost a year now and I'm just now getting down to figuring out how I'm
going to do my administrative (institutional) reporting using the PS
data. We plan to continue dual entry (PS and Access) until we're
comfortable with getting data out of PS. If anyone has documentation of
PS Grants admin reports they've developed, I'd love to see it.

Take my advice:  if at all possible, write your business procedures and
design your reports BEFORE you complete your system configuration and
go live.

We're looking at PeopleSoft solutions here.  What do you think of
PeopleSoft Grants module?
