I exchanged emails today with Alex Lopes, Director, Deemed Export and Electronic Division, BIS, DoC.  He stated that they have sent a notice to the Federal Register that should be published before the week is out to extend the comment period by 30 days.

So the paper bag I strategically placed under my desk in case I hyperventilated gets to go back in the closet, at least for a few days!
