The information you sent to me is what I am used to. Would you attach the specific values that you mention in the message? Depending on the use of the information, we have the following values for reporting source of grant funds: Fund (special range of funds set up for sponsored programs) Project Type (project type assigned to a sponsored project under an award) Sponsor Type (assigned on sponsor profile) Attached are the specific values we set up under each category. When a department processes an expenditure, they use a combination of Department ID, Fund, and Project ID. Hope this helps. Feel free to call if you have questions. I would be thrilled f I get some additional feedback about your understanding of the fund component in a chart of accounts. Thanks a lot! -----Original Message----- From: Research Administration List [mailto:xxxxxx@HRINET.ORG] On Behalf Of Espinosa, Dora Sent: Wednesday, May 04, 2005 2:29 PM To: xxxxxx@HRINET.ORG Subject: [RESADM-L] Design of Chart of Accounts Since we have bought a new ERP system, our institution is in the process of designing the chart of accounts and I would like to have some feedback about the concept of the "fund" component and "unique identifier component" for a grant. Currently our fund component captures the source of funds and whether the fund is unrestricted/temporary restricted or restricted. The consultant of the new ERP system influenced our controller/accounting office that the fund should not capture the source of funds at all and that the unique identifier should capture the source of fund of the particular grant. Since I came from other universities in that the fund implied the source of funds, I did not agree with that concept at all. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dora G.
