I wholeheartedly agree . . . I think we should also get the professional
organizations involved if we can.
In addition to the fact that grants.gov--any way you look at it--will
basically cost $$ to SUBMIT a proposal (either by establishing and
maintaining an S2S application or by purchasing software from one of the
vendors), they are still using forms. I think the original idea was to have
a standard interface into which applicants would input data elements that
the agencies could extract into any format they chose. Now, I'm told,
grants.gov has no less than 60 forms!! Plus, it appears that each agency
will still use their own systems for the "back office" (or post-award)
administration--so I don't see the point in grants.gov at all.
And, I have not heard anything good about it!
