Re: cost share Carlson, Claire 09 Mar 2005 17:07 EST

Pam,

The fact that the federal funds were going to be used as cost sharing
for a private grant was not indicated on the applications because we
didn't know at the time they were submitted. The federal funds were
identified as part of the cost share in the applications to the private
sponsors. As long as the costs incurred on the federal grant qualify as
legitimate cost share on the private grant (i.e., expended during the
private grant performance period, allowable costs, etc.) and are not
being used as cost sharing on another grant, you should be fine.

Thank you.

Did the applications to the federal agencies indicate that their funds
would be used for matching for the private group's project?

Our federal application is already funded and the proposal to the
private agency is being submitted this week.

The federal project's funds definitely would help launch the project
funded by the private group.

Do the feds need to approve it?
