Position Announcement (105936) Also available online at http://www.personnel.umd.edu/jobposting/cgi-bin/empEXEM.idc Title: Assistant Director, Finance and Facilities - Department of Mechanical Engineering Category: Exempt Staff, 12 months, fulltime, 40 hours per week Purpose of Position: The Assistant Director, Finance and Facilities is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to finance and facilities within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. The incumbent will assist the Director of Administrative Services with issues and policy in these areas. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the incumbent will provide general assistance in ME financial matters by collecting, compiling, organizing and analyzing data to prepare reports for administrators, faculty, sponsoring agencies and industry as requested. Monitor system to track telephones, phone bills, office moves, work orders, inventory, parking and email aliases. Oversee development of proposals for ME faculty including project budgets, tracking and facilitating internal progress of proposals in view of established deadlines and agency regulations and assist in collection of documents necessary to process proposals. Monitor pre and post-award status of proposals and provide status updates to faculty and administrators. Maintain tracking system for proposals, awards and revenue and coordinate cash flow to ME revolving accounts. Maintain financial records for accounts at the University of Maryland Foundation and the University of Maryland College Park Foundation. Assist faculty and administrators with receipt and processing of gifts, review agreements for appropriate language and facilitate processing through university and foundation channels. Supervise senior business manager, office clerk and research coordinator to assure all department business matters run smoothly. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of financial and facilities management experience at an increasing level of responsibility required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of federal award management guidelines (A-21; A-133, A-110). Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. To Apply: Position will remain open until filled.
