Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to
education, health care and research has a challenging opportunity for an
Institutional Review Board Coordinator.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: Under general direction, coordinates the daily activities
associated with the processing of research protocols and all facets of
protocol review management to assist the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:

1. Processes new protocols and coordinates the review process;
determines difficulty level of protocol issues; assists in preparing
protocols for IRB action; assigns reviewers; delineates revision
requirements; reviews investigators' responses; makes decisions for
approval; elicits reviewers' assistance or refers to director for
decisions; provides full approval letters or administratively withdraws
protocols based on established guidelines.

2. Coordinates IRB meetings; prepares agenda and material to meet
distribution deadline; monitors existing and new protocols; expedites
approvals.

3. Gathers information and background material in response to
inquiries/issues raised; responds to requests for information regarding
IRB review.

4. Assists with revisions and implementation of IRB forms, policies, and
standard operating procedures.

5. Conducts workshops/seminars for University community on IRB policies
and procedures; attends workshops and conferences focused on current
issues affecting the IRB oversight of human research activity.

6. In director's absence, assists with budget development; approves
purchases; prepares time and attendance; assists with maintaining IRB
web page.

7. Informs director of issues raised by the IRB or investigators;
performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience equivalent to:

Bachelor's degree; supplemented with three (3) years of related experience.
