Many institutions as well as funding agencies require that
consultants be named and their credentials presented in the
proposal, or approved by the sponsor after-the-fact in the case of
"to-be-named" individuals. If this is the case then I think there is no
conflict as hiring her as a consultant has been approved by the
sponsoring agency. If it isn't then you would need to be sure to
follow the same proceedures used for hiring any consultant
(depending on your institutinal polices this could require a public
advertisement and bidding process or there may be institutional or
state nepotism regulations that would prevent it outright) and be
certain that her credentials demonstrate that she is the expert she is
claimed to be.
