The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking candidates
for the position of Director, Pre-Award Services, Office of Sponsored
Research.  The Director, Pre-Award Services will supervise a staff of 12
and report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Director of
the Office of Sponsored Research. The Office of Sponsored Research has
administrative responsibility for all sponsored research, training, and
public service contracts and grants awarded to the University, which
currently includes 8,300 active awards totaling more than $570 million
annually.

Minimum educational and experience requirements for this position
include a bachelor’s degree, advanced degree or equivalent experience,
preferably in business administration, contract management, or a closely
related field and five years experience in contract administration and
in negotiations with external sponsors, preferably in a
research-intensive university.  Extensive knowledge of Federal
regulations and OMB circulars as they relate to sponsored program
activity conducted by universities is also required. Other requirements
include evidence of leadership, well-developed communication skills, the
ability to work with research faculty and senior administrative officers
of the University, and a thorough understanding of current public policy
