Northwestern University is building a new project team to develop a web
based research application with integrated data from current and planned
enterprise systems. The technical lead position is listed below and

Technical Lead - Application Architect

Looking for highly skilled individual to partner with project management
in the development of a web-based Research data solution to support
Northwestern University’s active Research community.

The specific focus of this project is to develop and deploy a web-based
system that will present researchers and administrators with integrated
data from current and planned enterprise systems including the
financial, human resource, student, and various research information
systems.

Position Requirements:

Strong knowledge of J2EE architectures, n-tier technologies, portal
technologies, middleware, and web services. Must have 8-10 years of
overall experience in software development with 3-4 years as a
Senior/Lead developer in web based applications using Java

Minimum 2 years experience in leading/mentoring a development team.
Working knowledge of popular open source tools (Eclipse, etc.) and
frameworks with experience in assessing/making tool selections. Hands-on
experience implementing at least one large scale web application (~500
concurrent users)

Hands-on experience with a leading application server (Websphere,
WebLogic, etc.) and experience with at least one major database (Oracle,
Sybase, etc.)

Solid understanding of database table design/construction concepts and
strong SQL skills. Standard database skills (object modeling, UML,
sequence diagrams)

Outstanding communication, teamwork, leadership, and coaching skills
