Hi Nicole,
I assume you are starting an office in a predominately undergraduate
or
some other kind of non-research intensive institution. I have 2
suggestions, both involving NCURA. The organization recently published
a
micrograph entitled Establishing and Managing an Office of Sponsored
Programs at Non-Research Intensive Colleges and Universities, written
by
Steve Hansen and Mildred Ofosu. I recommend you start there. In
addition, I would recommend your institution send you to one of
NCURA's
Fundamentals of Research Administration workshops. Together, these
will
provide all the guidance and background you need to establish a solid
office. Dick

Subject: [RESADM-L] Hello & a question for all
I am starting a new Sponsored Programs Office, basically from scratch.
If each of you had that chance what pitfalls would you avoid and what
administrative processes are an absolute must?
I know this is a rather broad question and I look forward to the
responses.
Thanks
