Thanks for the funny and not funny responses off line, but what I want to
know is:

If a PI has a receipt for the total meal without a breakdown of food vs
alcohol , do you assume no alcohol and just pay it, or do you not pay it
because you cannot tell if alcohol is included or not?

This is for institutions that use actual costs rather than Per Diem for
travel reimbursement purposes.

What kind of documentation do you require from a faculty member traveling
on federal money to show that alcohol (heaven forbid!) is not part of the
meal cost?
