We use a cradle-to-grave structure with both Sponsored Programs and Fiscal staff both reporting to myself as the Director of SP/FA.  Some of the SP and FA staff report indirectly through a Grant/Contract Administrator and a Senior Accountant.  We are a relatively small organization, so with a total staff of 12, including myself, this works well for us.

Currently our pre award is under Research and our post award is under
finance with different reporting up. Do other institutions also have
them split like this, or are they housed under a single grants
management dept?  And if they are blended, where do they report up to?
