The Organization
Boston Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, 550-bed academic medical center. It is the major teaching affiliate of Boston University School of Medicine, Public Health and Dental Medicine. The hospital has nearly 5,000 employees, 1,400 physicians, $626 million in net patient revenue and an operating budget of $1.0 billion. Boston Medical Center has the largest 24-hour level 1 trauma center in New England.
In 2003, Boston University Medical Center, a consortium of Boston Medical Center and Boston University, was awarded $128 million by the National Institutes of Health, to construct one of two National Biocontainment Laboratories (NBL), as part of its Biodefense Research Agenda.
The Position
The Associate Director, reporting to the Director of Grants Administration, provides full operational oversight of post award grants administration. The position is responsible for leading a staff of fifteen (4 direct reports) and overseeing $147 million in grants from both federal and non-federal sources. The Associate Director will promote superior fiscal management of research with a high focus on customer service. The position is responsible for two A-133 audits annually and filing the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR). In addition, the Associate Director will participate in overhead rate negotiation, oversee the space survey and forecast Direct/F&A $.
