Subrecipient Monitoring Lawrence Waxler 26 Nov 2003 09:25 EST

The Federal government recently increased the threshold for A-133 audits
from $300,000 to $500,000. As I understand it, this was done primarily
to reduce the number of agencies that have to file an audit report. The
Feds concluded that the additional risk of not auditing agencies with
between $300,000 and $500,000 in Federal business was minimal.

We have been sending letters to sub-recipeints with whom we do greater
than $25,000 in business requesting information about the amount of
total Federal business that they do and informing them of A-133
requirements. In line with the Feds decision to increase their cap, we
are considering raising our notification cap from $25,000 to $50,000.

At what level does your institution send out notifications?
