Iowa State University will host a one-day customized IACUC training program "Basics and Challenges." While this course will be of primary benefit to new IACUC members as well as IACUC affiliates (e.g., administrators, coordinators, animal care staff, scientists, and regulatory personnel), it will also serve as a refresher for more experienced IACUC members. IACUC "Basics and Challenges" is designed to provide a sound understanding of the fundamental responsibilities and authorities of the IACUC with particular emphasis on IACUC functions, semi-annual program review and facility inspection, and protocol review. With the direction of a knowledgeable faculty including representatives from OLAW and USDA, attendees will be challenged to consider and resolve several relevant and timely issues as well as be given opportunities to engage in questions and answers. Each attendee will receive relevant information resources on the federal laws, regulations, policies and standards governing the care and use of animals in research.
Registration Fee: $80.00/participant. Cancellations must be submitted in writing prior to November 10, 2003 for reimbursement of the registration fee.
