I assume that Peter means distributing the NIH Guide on the Monday FOLLOWING the week it comes out. The issues typically appear on Monday or Tuesday but continually grows every day till 5 PM Fri. This also makes faculty use of the NIH Guide on the web a bit problematic: they should be warned that it is a dynamic document. Charlie Hathaway Quoting "Dolce, Peter J" <xxxxxx@MMC.EDU>: > We distribute the entire NIH guide electronically to all faculty members > each Monday; in addition, a staff member in this office goes through each > issue of the Guide and sends individual RFAs and PAs to the clusters of > faculty members who he judges will be particularly interested in them--the > number of faculty members who submit applications regularly is small enough > to do this from memory, but it could also be done with mailing lists grouped > by interest, e.g. breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, etc. That's all we > disseminate, but our web site has links to HRSA, U.S. Army, CDC, American > Heart Association, NSF, Dept of Ed, and about 100 small foundations. > > The task of disseminating funding opportunities, like maintaining a data > base or a web site, can consume as much labor as you are willing to expend > on it; I'm not sure the benefits equal the cost, because the most aggressive > investigators know about all the opportunites without help from us.
