I have attended several of these regional conferences, and have found them extremely informative. While research administrators probably know most of the programs supported by NSF . .. these conferences offer an opportunity to hear about new initiatives within the divisions and offer an excellent opportunity for faculty who might be interested in specific programs . . . providing a forum to hear, right from the horse's mouth, the intent of the program, things to keep in mind, as far as proposal development, and an opportunity to ask questions. I have always considered my participation as time well spent, and have found this to be even more true for individual faculty. My two cents! Jackie
