Re: Grant tracking software Amy Hibbard 11 Sep 2003 15:52 EST

Paul (and others who've asked)-
I received a few responses about grant tracking software. Several people responded that they've used Access to create a grant tracking system, learning how to program it themselves so that changes and/or additions are incorporated more easily. This sounds like a good option. We already have Access, so the only out-of-pocket expense would be my training. The downside is the roll-out time and the dependence on one person's knowledge of the program (few around here are Access-savvy).

InfoEd's Proposal Tracking was recommended, but I haven't had a chance to really look into it. I also received some information on ecGrant. The ecGrant system looks very comprehensive, cradle to grave tracking, but it might be more than we need right now.

I've been contacted in the past by a rep from DynaQuest, and I was curious to see if anyone had an opinion on their Grant Administrator program, but no luck yet.

I was also trying to find the NCURA cookbook, where I originally (couple of yrs ago?) found some recommendations, but it seems to have disappeared, or at least mutated into a new document that I haven't been able to track down.

Not much to chew on, but that's what I have so far.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Grant tracking software

Hello all-
We've recently been considering purchasing software to help with grant
tracking, and I was hoping I could pick your brains for a short list of
good products. I've looked into a few, but the demo can only show you
so much. We're a small school, so we don't need the luxury package, but
something that would allow expense tracking and perhaps keep track of
subcontract invoices and reporting dates would make my life less
stressful.

Thanks for the use of your brains,
-Amy

PS - If you have a tracking software cautionary tale, that would help,
too. AH
