First stop -- Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare of NIH -- you can get
there throuh the NIH grants pagef:
http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/index.cfm.
In addition, you should contact the US Dept. of Agriculture and AALAC.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Animal welfare assurance no.
Hi everyone:
I am from the Grant Adm Office of the Stellenbosch University Faculty of
Health Sciences in Cape Town, SA. We are looking to certify our
experimental animal facility and are trying to figure out how to obtain
the animal welfare assurance number that is required on NIH grant
applications involving animal research.
Can someone give me a link to the proper organization to start this
process.
Pat McVay
