several years ago on assessment.  I don't know if that's what you're
thinking of or not, but she would be a good person to contact.

 For
 Director, Sponsored Projects Office/Deputy Director, EPSCoR

The University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) invites
applications and nominations for the position of Director of UCCSN
Sponsored Projects and Deputy Director, EPSCoR (Experimental Program to
Stimulate Competitive Research). This is a renewable, full-time,
non-tenured, administrative faculty position which reports to the UCCSN
Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.  The position will be
housed with the Sponsored Projects Office (SPO) in Las Vegas.

The UCCSN is comprised of 8 relatively diverse institutions: 2
universities, a state college, 4 community colleges, and a research
institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to
experience rapid growth, with significant challenges and opportunities in
serving 90,000 students and 11,700 employees.

The SPO is the grants and contracts pre- and post-award arm of the UCCSN.
The office facilitates proposal preparation, project implementation
activities, and financial oversight of large statewide sponsored projects.
The SPO also houses the Nevada EPSCoR Office.  Present funding of active
system projects is approximately $12 million per year.

SALARY:  Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and
experience. An excellent benefits package including health, dental, life
and retirement.

STARTING DATE:  January 1, 2004, or earlier if possible.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have an earned
bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution. A master's
degree is preferred.  A minimum of 5 years experience with grants and
contracts administration within a complex organization or within an
institution of higher education.  Other experiences to be considered and
which should be addressed in the application are:

·     Organizational skills
·     Personnel management experience
·     Ability to interact in a positive manner with high level officers of
educational institutions and with research officials at the national level
·     Strong communications skills, both oral and written
·     Strong background in both pre and post award university research
administration
·     Promoting diversity in the workplace
·     Working with diverse groups and accommodating competing interests

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be
limited to, the following areas of activity within the System Sponsored
Projects Office, including EPSCoR.

System Sponsored Projects:
·     Oversee proposal submissions, award acceptances, and sub award
preparations
·     Prepare Request For Application under federally funded statewide
programs and    supervises the review, acceptance, and reporting of such
awards
·     Train System staff, faculty, and others
·     Supervise all staff in a variety of functions
·     Complete financial draw-downs and invoices
·     Complete needed financial reports, invoices, and payroll
documentation
·     Coordinate meetings of the UCCSN such as the UCCSN Research Affairs
Council and Nevada Research Network meetings

EPSCoR:
·     Oversee budgeting and encumbering tasks relating to matching funds
·     Facilitate operations of different EPSCoR Programs
·     Represent Nevada EPSCoR nationally
·     Oversee internal state competitions for transparency
·     Supervise professional staff on EPSCoR projects
·     Respond to Coalition requests
·     Oversee newsletter and listserv mailings
