The Office of Contract and Grant Administration (CGA) at Michigan State University is seeking a Facilities & Administration (F&A)/Indirect Costs Accountant. The Office of Contract & Grant Administration reports to the VP for Business and processes approximately $200M in both pre- and post-award activities. MSU is centrally located in the State of Michigan and is approximately 2 hours from both Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Since CGA is a one-stop, pre- and post-award, customer service organization, there are many opportunities for promotion. Our website is located at http://www.cga.msu.edu Primary duties include assisting in the development and negotiation of the University's F&A rates which include developing web and non-web financial information systems using data-mining from mainframe and PC sources. During non-F&A base years this position will participate in the financial aspects of research administration including: proposal review, award negotiation, and financial management (expenditure auditing, financial statement and billing preparation, internal and external correspondence preparation, and subcontract preparation and monitoring). Carrying out these duties will involve working on a video display terminal (computer) up to 50% of the time. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business, 3 to 5 years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Accounting and Cost Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be detail oriented, dependable, organized, and work well with others. Education/Experience/Skills Desired: Experience with the CRIS software system from MAXIMUS is a real plus as well as demonstrated analytical/creative skills, excellent computer skills including proficiency with PC SAS, FoxPro, and other Microsoft products, and strong writing and interpersonal skills.
