Position Announcement Director of Research and Sponsored Programs University of Arkansas The University of Arkansas is searching for a Director of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSSP). The U of A is a research-extensive university with annual sponsored funding of approximately $65 million with an anticipated growth of 100% over the next 10 years. The director reports to the Vice Provost for Research and is responsible for all pre-award and non-financial post-award activities. Major responsibilities include providing assistance to faculty in the development and submission of proposals; review and negotiation of awards; monitoring compliance with applicable federal, state, university, and sponsoring agencies' policies and regulations; and providing training to faculty and staff. Divisions within the RSSP unit include Project Administration including Proposal Processing and Post-Award Administration, Industrial Relations and Technology Transfer, Research Compliance, Central Laboratory Animal Care Facility, and Research Services. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, and/or present sufficient years of experience in research and research administration. Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements, strong managerial, leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills, and have a demonstrated ability to work with creative professionals and complex programs. Candidates must have the ability to create an environment that effectively encourages a diverse group of faculty to pursue external funding and ensure that their research and scholarly needs are met.
