The Office of Research Accounting and Costing Standards serves as the central administrative office responsible for post award administration of sponsored research funding. Currently, this office manages over 3,800 sponsored research accounts with an excess of $260,000,000 in annual grant expenditures. Assistant Grant Manager The Assistant Grant Manager reports to the Assistant Controller for Research Accounting and Costing Standards, and is responsible for providing administrative leadership as it pertains to post award administration of grants and contracts. Specifically, this position will train, supervise and evaluate two senior grant accountants and four grant accountants; oversee the preparation of financial reports and invoices to sponsors; assure that reports and invoices are prepared accurately and filed on time; ensure financial and regulatory compliance; monitor daily cash balances; serve as a resource on grant and contract regulations, and interpret requirements with staff, principle investigators and management; assist with the development, communication and implementation of policies and procedures; maintain a working knowledge of University, federal, and agency regulations, policies and procedures. Qualifications Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, from a recognized institution of higher education, and at least five years related experience. A Master's or CPA certification is preferred. Previous supervisory experience in a university environment is desired. Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations related to research administration, including OMB Circular A-21, OMB Circular A-110, OMB Circular A-133, Federal Acquisition Regulations and major federal funding agency guidelines is critical for success. Candidates must also possess strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, as well as technical proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. The successful candidate will possess an understanding of and commitment to providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external constituents, have the ability to establish and maintain a collaborative team environment, and be competent in organizing and prioritizing heavy workloads to meet deadlines. Senior Grant Accountant The Senior Grant Accountant reports to the Assistant Grant Manager of the Office of Research Accounting and Costing Standards. Primary responsibilities focus on the post-award financial administration of sponsored research activity; specifically, the review and approval of award expenditures, ensuring compliance with agency requirements, obtaining sponsor approvals, and all tasks necessary to close grant/contract accounts in an accurate and timely manner; establishment and administration of subcontracts; participation in new systems development; producing management reports; participating in site visits and audits; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with department research administrators. Other significant duties include assisting with the supervision, training and evaluation of assigned staff accountants. Qualifications Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, from a recognized institution of higher education, and at least three years of experience in sponsored program administration in a university, hospital or other not-for-profit environment. Previous supervisory experience is desired. Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations related to research administration, including OMB Circular A-21, OMB Circular A-110, OMB Circular A-133, Federal Acquisition Regulations and major federal funding agency guidelines is critical for success. Candidates must also possess strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, as well as technical proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. Qualifications Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, from a recognized institution of higher education, and at least two years of experience in sponsored program administration in a university, hospital or other not-for-profit environment. Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations related to research administration, including OMB Circular A-21, OMB Circular A-110, OMB Circular A-133, Federal Acquisition Regulations and major federal funding agency guidelines is critical for success.
