That is correct -- although it is technically, I have been told, not a "request". Here is what I send to the grants management officer The expiration date for the above referenced grant, awarded under expanded authority, is date. Please accept this letter as formal notification that we intend to exercise our privilege, under expanded authority, to a no-cost extension for 12 months, i.e., until date. This is necessary to complete the originally approved project objectives. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
