That is correct -- although it is technically, I have been told, not a
"request". Here is what I send to the grants management officer
The expiration date for the above referenced grant, awarded
under expanded authority, is date. Please accept this letter as formal
notification that we intend to exercise our privilege, under expanded
authority, to a no-cost extension for 12 months, i.e., until date. This
is necessary to complete the originally approved project objectives.

Just looking for verification -
On a no-cost-extension of an NIH R01 (under expanded authorities), the
final progress report is delayed until the new end date.
This means that at the end of the original project period (before the
extension) no progress report is to be submitted to the NIH, just the
request for no-cost extension.
Is this correct?
