POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Grants Manager
Chicago, Illinois
The Center for International Rehabilitation (CIR) is an Illinois
not-for-profit corporation focused on the development of programs and
technology to assist people with disabilities in low-income countries around
the world. The CIR is an outgrowth of Physicians Against Land Mines (PALM),
a public education and advocacy organization formed in l996 to address the
treatment and prevention of land mine injuries.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Grants Manager is based in Chicago, Illinois and is
responsible for providing management and oversight for all CIR grants to
ensure goals are achieved and CIR is in compliance with all applicable
guidelines and requirements. Specific responsibilities include:
Grant Writing
Prepare proposals and grant writing, including oversight of program
proposals to government agencies
• Prepare budgets and budget justifications to funders
Financial and Compliance Tracking
• Monitor grant awards to ensure CIR’s programs are in compliance with
all applicable guidelines and requirements
• Assign expenses to grants and conduct ongoing fiscal oversight of
each grant (monitoring of actual versus proposed expenses)
• Review and oversee grant draw downs
• Oversee subcontract and consulting agreements and their reporting
requirements
• Prepare necessary reports for the funding agencies/organizations
regarding the progress of the program
• Prepare and provide necessary documentation for the audit process
and dissemination of information to auditors.
• Participate in the development of new accounting and administration
procedures with respect to contract and grants administration.
• Assist in the preparation of cost studies for the establishment of
indirect cost rates.
Program Management
• Track grant goals against accomplishments
• Manage sub-contractors and consultants and monitor progress on their
commitments
• Oversee organization and implementation of workshops and conferences
• Coordinate Advisory Board activities:
• Plan annual meeting
• Facilitate Advisory Board participation and review of all CIR
products
• Coordinate implementation of pertinent Advisory Board
recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS: The applicant must have a college degree and at least four
years of experience preparing proposals and managing grants. Must have
excellent oral and written communication skills, be detail-oriented and be
comfortable in a collaborative environment. Must have a demonstrated
ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, work under
pressure and meet deadlines. Experience in rehabilitation, in an academic
environment, or with international organizations is a plus.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary dependent on experience and abilities.
