Only funds received under a grant that is active and is being transferred
with the PI can be transferred. We're a state agency and can't give away
state $.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Transfer of funds

Good Afternoon,

I've been asked to investigate the matter of policies related to the
transfer of a PI's funds to another institution upon his or her departure.

Do your institutions have polices that deal with the transfer of PI
discretionary funds upon their transfer to another institution? I'm
concentrating on funds such as clinical trial residuals or educational funds
(not active grants or clinical trials). Are there limits on how much can be
transferred, must the funds be left in the department, or is it done on a
case by case basis.

Thank you.

Alex
