NSF Cost Share Policy (re-posted) Domenica G. Pappas, CRA 19 Feb 2003 10:57 EST

I'm re-posting this question (sorry for the duplication). I did not
receive that many replies.

Your input is appreciated.

With the new NSF policy on cost sharing (unless a program solicitation
specifically requires cost sharing, proposers should not include cost
sharing amounts in line M of the proposal budget), how are institutions
going to handle those cases in which you would normally volunteer cost share?

For example, at IIT, when a proposal carries full on-campus indirect costs,
the Graduate College will cost share 1/2 of a graduate student's tuition.

If NSF no longer wants to see voluntary cost share, are you going to
eliminate the cost share provided to the faculty member or account for the
cost share internally on a separate budget, or.....?

Thanks again!
