For those with experience with the National Geographic Society, you are
aware that the award letter to the university requires the Principal
Investigator to sign a Scientific Research Grant Release. This release
creates several problems with respect to our System By-laws and university
policy. Besides the fact NGS is requiring a signature from a university
employee instead of the authorized institutional representative, the
Release grants the NGS ownership to copyrights, restricts distribution of
film without written permission, etc. I would appreciate any advice from
those who have been successful in resolving these problems with NGS.
