To that end, the > Associate Director will be skilled and competent in all aspects of > sponsored program development and administration; however the successful > candidate's area of emphasis will be primarily focused in pre-award. > There is an expectation that his/her expertise will lend itself favorably > to working closely with faculty in order to increase the number and > success rate of proposals to federal and non-profit sponsors. This > position provides leadership, guidance, coordination and oversight of > staff throughout proposal development, review, submission, agreement > preparation and negotiation. > > MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS: > * Develop and maintain familiarity with UTMB faculty in order to match > discipline interests to funding opportunities > * Ensure PIs and OSP preaward staff are informed of and encouraged to > pursue all funding opportunities > * Collaborate with other Research Services' staff to develop proposals > for multidisciplinary and other major projects > * Provide training and guidance to staff regarding various sponsor > terms, conditions, regulations, and requirements > * Coordinate OSP staff training with the OSP Director, Assistant > Director and Director of Research Education > * Develop and present training to campus research community > * Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing performance > feedback to staff, handle personnel issues including hiring, scheduling > and corrective actions > > QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess and exhibit a > high degree of professionalism, have a Master's Degree and six years of > directly related experience.
