Re: DOJ Publication Approval Elaine Young 16 Oct 2002 13:07 EST

I'd remove the "approval" and replace it with "review". Also, while I am
all for citing support (usually at the end of a paper), the idea of using
the sponsor's logo doesn't sit well. I think it would depend on what you
were publishing and where. For instance, if you are developing materials
for public distribution/education, the logo might be okay but if you are
doing a journal paper, it would not.

Subject: [RESADM-L] DOJ Publication Approval

Dear Colleagues,

My institution has received a DOJ grant with the following language. Has
anyone had any luck getting DOJ to change the publication approval
requirement and would you share the revised language?

"Recipient must submit all reports and written products resulting from this
award to OJJDP for review and comment prior to publishing. The grantee must
submit to OJJDP for approval any reports or written products that the
grantee will publish using grant funds. Any publication, report or other
written product produced with grant funds must prominently display the OJJDP
logo on the cover page."

Thanks, Andy
