The Translational Genomics Research Institute, Phoenix's new world class
bioscience research organization, seeks a energetic Grant Accountant to be
a part of development of this new research institute.
POSITION DESCRIPTION

II. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Grant Accountant is primarily responsible for working with the
Controller in the Institute's post-award grant administration office.
These activities include expenditure reconciliation and analysis,
preparation of financial reports, and ensuring sponsor compliance.
Responsibilities include working collaboratively with Principal
Investigators (PIs), and external sponsors to mange the financial aspects
of research awards.
III. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for post-award functions including:
a. Review and reconcile award expenditures and cost transfer
requests..
b. Perform budget reallocations.
c. Develop financial reports for sponsors and internal purposes.
d. Prepare closeout and submission of FSRs and other sponsor
required reports to sponsoring agencies.
e. Review and process request for carry forwards and no cost
extensions.
f. Communicate with external sponsors.
2. Assists the Finance Office in the preparation of the department
budgets.
3. Assist the PI's and if necessary, the Development Office, with
development of grant budgets for inclusion in proposals.
4. Assist in the preparations of rate structures for cores and service
centers for internal and external customers.
5. Remain current knowledge of regulations for sponsored program
administration.
6. Perform other job related duties as requested by the Controller.
IV. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, accounting, or
related field or equivalent education and experience.
Experience:
· Prefer three years of post-award experience at a non-profit research
institution.
· Departmental research administration experience and/or understanding
of pre-award administration a plus.
Working knowledge:
· Federal financial reporting requirements per OMB Circular A-110 and
A-122,
· NIH policy guidelines,
· Cost accounting standards, and
· Ability to interpret of policies and special terms and conditions of
awards.
Other:
· Ability to use desktop computer.
· Working knowledge of spreadsheet software (i.e. Excel).
· Ability to work with minimum supervision.
· Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work in and adjust to a growing and dynamic environment.
The Institute is a new stand-alone genetics research institute with plans
to expand to approximately 25 ? 30 principle investigators with multiple
grants.
