PI, commercial sponsor, & campus veterinarian
Ballard, Gamaliel L. 13 Sep 2002 10:24 EST
Thank those who responded to my earlier inquiry about procedures for
monitoring animals when the director of the animal care facility serves as a
PI on a research project. I had two responses. So I want to ask the
question again.
Does your school have a policy, procedure, or practice in place that
permits or prohibits the director of the animal care facility to serve as
the PI on a commercially sponsored research project?
Is there an appearance of a conflict of interest when the sponsor is a for
profit entity?
Conversely, is it true that if this were an NIH grant the appearance of a
conflict of interest would be less of a concern.
Sincerely,
G.L. Ballard
