CLARKSON UNIVERSITY

POTSDAM, NEW YORK

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE & FOUNDATION
RELATIONS

Clarkson University welcomes an energetic,
organized and highly motivated professional to
join its fast-paced
Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team.
Successful candidate will collaborate with the
Director,
Institutional Advancement colleagues and numerous
individuals across campus, to advocate mutual
interests
between Clarkson and its partners within the
corporate and foundation constituency.
Responsibilities include
identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporate
and foundation funding sources; networking with
peer institutions to
benchmark activities; and working with faculty,
administrators, trustees and key volunteers to
further the needs of
the University.

Institutional Advancement staff enjoy a team
environment and success in a thriving $70 million
Campaign for
Clarkson – as of June 30, 2002, we have met $66
million of a $70 million goal. One alumnus in 12
is a senior
executive or owner of a company, making corporate
interaction a high-wide-and-deep strength of the
institution.
The University has also made considerable progress
in its foundation base including procurement in
May 2002 of
the largest gift in Clarkson’s history.

The CFR team has fostered successful outreach to
the campus community and participates in program
positioning
and marketing functions as part of stewardship and
new donor initiatives. In April 2002, the
Corporate and
Foundation Alliance honored the University and its
SPEED program (Student Projects for Engineering
Experience
and Design) for an "exemplary effort to improve
teaching and learning in undergraduate Science,
Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics education.” Members
of the Clarkson community are also recipients of
the
2001Boeing Outstanding Educator Award, the 2002
IBM Linux Scholar Challenge, and first runner-up
for the
2002 National Undergraduate Entrepreneurship
Education Award.

While Clarkson is a nationally ranked research
institution, everything we do begins and ends with
students who live and
learn in a highly personalized, close-knit
residential community. Academic programming
offers some 3,000 undergraduate
and graduate students career-focused programs in
business, communication, engineering, health
sciences, liberal arts,
science and physical therapy, as well as
distinctive interdisciplinary programs. Clarkson
sets a world-class standard in
research by concentrating its strengths and
leveraging expertise through cross-disciplinary
teams.

We’re located in New York’s North Country, on the
edge of the scenic Adirondack Mountains and just
minutes away
from Canada. The campus immerses students and
staff in a technology-rich environment and also
offers miles of hiking
trails, forest and wetlands preserve.
International attractions in Lake Placid, NY,
Ottawa, Ontario, and Montreal, Quebec
are less than a two-hour drive. Three other
institutions of higher learning are within 12
miles of the Clarkson campus
affording a unique cultural life in a small
“college” town setting.

Excellent communicators with skills that translate
to writing proposals and interacting in diverse
groups are encouraged to
apply. Travel, work assignments outside of normal
business hours and a minimum of a bachelor’s
degree required. A
background in marketing, fund-raising, public
relations or other related experience desired.
Refer to
http://www.clarkson.edu/humanresources for more
information. Applications will be reviewed
immediately. This is
currently a campaign-funded position through June
30, 2004 with permanent funding anticipated. For
full consideration, a
letter of interest, resume, three writing samples
and three references should be sent to the address
below by September 30,
2002 to:
