Reporting of interdisciplinary awards

Dear Colleagues:
With the growth of interdisciplinary research centers at our
institution, we have encountered issues relating to the reporting of
awards for projects initiated through these centers. In the past, we
have reported these awards under the center housing the project, but
with the centers' growth, they are pulling away dollars which would have
been reported through the PI's home department previously.
To handle this issue in previous years, we published an addendum to our
annual report which gives a breakdown of awards to interdisciplinary
projects and credits those awards to the PI's home department.
Unfortunately, now everybody wants us to "double" report projects under
the interdisciplinary center and the PI home department on a current
rather than annual basis.
While we want to assure that the PI home departments get proper credit,
we don't want to downplay the accomplishments of the research centers.
I would appreciate any insights into how this is handled at your
institutions.
Thanks.
