Salary Survey: Manager, Grants and Contracts Accounting

We are interested in learning about salary levels for Managers of Grants and
Contracts Accounting, or positions at your institutions with similar titles.
We are especially interested in hearing from comprehensive, non-R-1
institutions.
This position reports to the Controller and supervises 3 employees. It
supervises post-award accounting for grants and contracts which includes
auditing of all billing, reporting and financial close out of awards. The
office is responsible for compliance of expenditures to budget, time & effort
reporting and various reporting requirements, such as the final financial
reports to sponsors. This manager does the monthly F & A collections report.
The position assists the research foundation in billing and with other
financial procedures. This position is liaison to the Office of Sponsored
Programs and assists policy making and presents at the workshop we call "After
the Award." The position is not responsible for pre-award budget review,
award acceptance, award negotiations, charts of accounts, budget
modifications, final technical reports, approval of cost transfers, or issuing
subgrants. Current volume is $42.6 million which includes financial aid,
state appropriation grants and sponsored awards. Sponsored grants, contracts
and cooperative agreements in FY02 were $24.4M, about a 10% increase over the
previous year.
