Molly:
They're probably referring to IRS payroll rules. The IRS wants 7 years
of payroll information. This doesn't equate to other personnel records
(hiring information, evaluations, promotions, sanctions, etc.), which
you'd want to keep for as long as the employee is employed by you, and
then (probably) 3 years after.
